Have you ever gotten something, then really really regretted it afterwords?
I was thinking about getting a new car, and paying it off monthly. I am so tired of driving my 1988 Pontiac Firebird. I have never had a nice car, so I really want one.
But I know if I do lease or finance one, I will regret it. Car payments suck. Insurance will be higher.

But that doesn't stop me from seriously considering it.

If I know something is a bad idea, I don't do it. To do otherwise would be kind of stupid, wouldn't it? :)

Stereotype much?

I guess so, since that was the entire point of my post. Way to get it...*high five*

No it's 1988 v-8 305. Automatic. Red. No ram air. It's been converted to carb. 145,00 miles. 14-17 miles to the gallon. May'be a bit less.
Can run the 1/4 mile in about 14.9. Although I have never raced it, the guy I bought it from was going to make it a race car.

The novelty will wear off with a couple of months. It takes the payments a lot longer than a couple of months to wear off. :)

Nice car doesn't always mean new car. You can get a preowned luxury car. Or perhaps an attractive lease deal. Think it over carefully, consider the pros and cons. Whats important today, may mean nothing tomorrow.

I'd consider doing a knight rider conversion if you haven't done so already.

You have seen the back seat, although you were face down, so I could see why you wouldn't have noticed it was a hard top. So was I. ;)

Don't do it until the payments won't bother you at all. For me to get a $20K car, I'd have to be making $120K/yr, depending on my other bills.

Too expensive. Plus it's red. I am not going to do the knight rider conversion unless I get it painted black, and paints jobs are expensive.
I have put a lt1 cam it in, and done some other mods, it's just no fun anymore. Some 4-door sedans coming out these days have more horsepower. And SUVs.
It's not worth my time modifying it anymore.

so the guy ditched the tuned port injection system for a carburator? typical red-neck move...

Mostly true.

And are you still in school ? Or is it just run-of-the-mill-having-a-family debt ?
