Dentist who ran over her husband charged with murder

A Friendswood dentist was charged with murder this morning, accused of killing her orthodontist husband by repeatedly running over him in the parking lot of an upscale Clear Lake hotel as his teen-age daughter struggled to get out of the car.

Dr. David Harris, a 44-year-old orthodontist with offices in Clear Lake, was rushed to St. John's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Dr. Clara Harris, a 44-year-old dentist with offices in Lake Jackson, was in the custody of Nassau Bay police this morning. Bond has been set at $30,000.

Nassau Bay police said the incident began just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, when the couple got into a heated argument in the lobby of the Nassau Bay Hilton along the shores of Clear Lake on NASA Road 1. One of the pair evidently was followed to the hotel by a private investigator hired by the other, police said.

The hotel management called police and asked the couple to leave, police said.

When the husband went out to his car in the parking lot, witnesses said his wife followed, got into her Mercedes, where her 16-year-old stepdaughter was waiting, and struck her husband as he was getting into his own car.

Police said witnesses told them that while the teenager tried to get out of the car, the woman circled around and ran over her husband twice more.

Police said that when they arrived, Clara Harris seemed calm, like she was in shock. She was questioned but did not explain her motives.

The couple, who lived in a half-million-dollar house in Friendswood's Polly Ranch Estates, have 3-year-old twin boys, who were at home with their nanny at the time.

since it is a current topic: death penalty? or life in prison?

I can understand an accidental shooting or pulling the trigger in passion. To repeatedly run over someone with a car to me shows she didn't care for his life even after the first time she ran over him.

death penalty

She ran over him three times.

Death penalty is the easy way out.

Let her live to see her children every day and be reminded that she removed their father from them. That ought to bite!

Damn. 🙁 She must be my son's mother's half sister. Only a blood relative of hers could be so truly evil.

What hurts is that she ran her husband over THREE TIMES with his daughter (not hers, his from his first marriage) in the car. I'm surprised the daughter did not open a 64-ounce can of whoopass on her!

there is another story that i've heard on the radio but haven't been able to find as of yet.

in plano (i think) 2 teenagers broke into a 90 yr old womans house twice. on the second one, they beat her, robbed her and cut off her finger to get to her ring that she has worn on that finger the past 69 yrs of marriage.

🙁 *wondering what the hell is going on with humanity*

Why in the world would the bond be so low, $30k? Huh?

I was thinking the same exact thing. It's prolly low b/c:

1. She's a white-collar professional "highly respected" in the community
2. She's white
3. Her $500 an hour lawyer was there at the jail before they even got there w/her in custody
4. She prolly wrote a check for the $30K right then and there

That's what I was thinking. That's pocket change for a dentist. A guy here in Iowa did the same thing(ran somebody over and killed him) and his bond was set at $1,000,000.

I hope the bitch gets it stuck to her. Set a little precedent to these yuppy criminals telling them that they have to pay their dues too.

It's wrong to kill. We must kill her.
