For those of us in cold places, a heck of a deal. Usually $2/gal, closing out the season at 75% off! Heck, the regular blue stuff is $0.84/gal, so I snagged a cart full of these day-glo orange/pink bottles at this price.

(This is the stuff that goes in your windshield washer reservoir, not the little bottle that make your winshield slippery.)

Jesus! That's a lot of Rain-X. How big is your windshield? Or do you drive Wonder Woman's glass plane?

I thought RainX came in small bottles (like about 4 ounces?).

Does this provide any of the RainX protection in which the water just beads away?

You gotta give it some time...same thing happened to me where it smeared the first time...I guess once there is a coat of it down it doesnt smear because the next time it rained it worked great...water beads up and flys off:D

GREAT POST!

I bought it at walmart last time they had it on sale in the winter at I think 1$ a gallon.
It isn't as good a rain repellent as the individual rain x invisible windshield wiper, but it still works good enough. Ill have to go there tonight and buy it

Thanks

Rain-X ranks up there with wd40 as some of the best stuff man ever invented. The washer fluid is also excellent, doesn't freeze and seems to make the wipers work better. As for smearing, you have to be very careful about the buffing, you MUST wait and rub HARD. I was lucky enough to be raised witha bottle of WD in my right hand and Rain-x in my left, witha bottle of hoppes#9 on standby, great post wish I had my car here in philly I'd go nab some for my parents, my dad'd piss himself.

<< WTF!?!?! are you joking? >>

I don't know if it's "recommended" to never use your wipers, but I don't.

Using your wipers when you've got Rain-X applied won't hurt anything, but it will cause the Rain-X to not last as long.

It's really amazing stuff; I do LOTS of long-distance driving, and have been caught up in some of the worst rainstorms you can imagine. You know the type, that has other drivers pulled off the side of the road or driving 20mph on a 65mph highway. Well, I STILL don't need to use my wipers, and in fact the only thing that slows me down is the other drivers.

Anyway, I was in Wal-Mart yesterday (before I'd read the post). I noticed ice scrapers and other automotive winter items at 75% off, but didn't think to check the wiper fluid. I will definitely pick some up on my next visit.

Damn, and I just paid $0.75 on Sunday! ;) Guess I'm going back for more this week.

Count me as one more satisfied user of this product. I drove home 2 hours in a *POURING* rain a few weeks ago -- never even turned on the wipers, the water just beaded off as fast as it came down. This stuff is the best performer for the money I've put in/on my truck in a long time.

Question:
then why BUY a product, APPLY it, BUFF it (HARD!)

in order to have rain 'bead' up on my windshield when i can put the wipers on.....
unless you're a hardcore coast to coast driver (and dont want to risk an accident like i did :)
why not just use ur wipers and save ur $ and time

This stuff really is great. Makes mud and slush just slide off, easier to use than "real" rain-x too. Just dump it in the washer reservoir. Well worth the normal price, if you can find it at this price, stock up.

In terms of the original Rain-X. I too found that it tended to smear if you didn't rub hard. I've found that another product (Rain Shield) tends to work much better, and is easier to apply. Comes in an aerosol can, and doesn't take nearly the elbow grease that Rain-X did for me....they make a cleaner and a buildup remover as well.

Having said that, I don't have any ideas about the product that was discussed here - but I guess it can't hurt (especially at the price being discussed).

If this is the stuff i think your talking about..u have to use your wipers...Its instead of using the blue washer fluid...So to get it on your windshield you have to use your wipers...at least on my explorer and every other car i have driven =)
