ICS & Tiny Personal Firewall Settings

I have my home LAN set up with ICS working fine between my Win2k machine with a dial-up and a Win98SE machine connected through Linksys Hub. Everything works fine until I run Tiny Personal Firewall. I let it set the appropriate rules and hit permit, but then the Win98 machine can no longer access the interent through IE. The dial-on-demand will work but once the connection is established nothing can be accessed through the browser on the Win98 machine, only on the Win2k machine. I'm assuming it has to do with setting the proper rules, but I'm new to networking and don't know how to fix this. Any help would be great please!

PS. I also had the same thing happen when I tried ZoneAlarm. I switched to TPF because of the ability to set rules, but obviously something is still amiss.

Hehe... 🙂

Yeah, you need to enter your LAN IP in the "trusted" area. Then I would create another rule that allows "TCP/UDP both directions" for "Trusted Addresses." Your firewall does not know you have another PC in your network.

Just remember, you are creating a RULE and adding your LAN IP in the trusted box (192.168.0.2 for example). You will find the IP address for your other PC in START | RUN, then type in WINIPCONFIG.

BTW: ZoneAlarm requires the same thing (only the second step however. SyGate Firewall 4.0 is one of the only apps that automatically knows about your LAN.
