ics problems

I have just made a small homenetwork(pc + notebook) and am using ics to get from my notebook to the internet.
Host computer works with winxp pro, notebook with winxp home. I have a adsl modem connection which works very good on my host computer. The small network is working o.k. Sharing things etc.
The ics is working too, but very slow. I only can reach some webpages from my notebook the ones with a little "makeup" .
The more designed webpages ,using all kinds of aplets and scripts etc, I can not get to on my notebook. For example the AnandTech.com I can only see from the host computer, not from my notebook.
Is there anyway I can speed up things? Anyweb sites with data on this specific subject?

Are you using PPPOE to connect to your ISP? If so, the MTU size on the client must be less than 1492. The default size in XP is 1500. There's a KB at MS support site.

ICS works, but it is the Yugo (Pinto or similar) of NAT setting.

This is a good time to get a Hardware Router, with Sale MIR etc. they go for $30 (D-Link this week).
