Recently i have found that ICQ is locking up my system...this has happened with 99a (not very often), 2000a (often) and 2000b (which I only installed yesterday and it is worse than the previous versions!)
My system is rock solid generally without ICQ running - what could be the problem?

generally icq is a very big program, too bloated if you ask me, well, are you perhaps running so many things that icq just takes you over the top? try running icq with nothing else and see how your system reacts. also what type of OS are you running, in my experience, if i use win98 i use 99a, if i use win2k i used 2000a. never had a problem with neither.

I use ICQ2000a on win2k without a single lock-up... what is your build # for ICQ?

Using 2000b V.4.54
On Windows 98 OS.. I'm generally running ICQ + IE5 + Dwyco.
Right now I have all the previous running and Outlook Express with 60% system resources free..

Running 99a again..much better - I still notice something weird...my messages fly off fast as you can imagine when using my modem connection...however when I use my ADSL connection with a LAN card it is noticeably slower...I've done many a post regarding program slowdowns when connecting using a LAN compared to a modem but never had a satisfactory answer as to why...?
