ICQ buddy list retrieval?

I downloaded ICQ tonight and spent about an hour trying to figure out my password and UIN. I haven't used this account since probably 1998, and all of my buddies are deleted. Any way I can get them back? Any buddy lists that were saved on my hard drive are long gone...

Yeah. I lost a lot of their phone numbers and they've all moved since college. I managed to use the search directory to find a few people but I don't think they use it anymore, anyway.

you're screwed, ICQ always saved your contacts to your hard drive
I have backup ICQ files from around 98, havent used it since 2000 or so

Actually they changed it at some point a few years ago, I remember being suprised when I logged in one day. I think it was after they were bought up by AOL and they changed it so it was more like IM.

I managed to get my contacts from another account I had later. So somewhere between 98 and 2000 they started storing contact lists on their servers. So I am logged in 2 UINs on trillian, and it forms a little trillian logo with the two green dots, neat.

I remember when ICQ was really simple. Now it has like 10 panels and a bunch of ads all over it. No thanks. I even got spam in the ten minutes I ran it.

Heh. I have my ICQ number memoriezed for some reason, and I stopped using ICQ in about '98 or so. Just the other day, I downloaded ICQ just for kicks. Well, stands to reason. I can't remember my password. >.<; Oh well.

As long as you have your email address and the UIN, I'm pretty sure you can use the password retrieval service on the website.
