Icons messed up and IE won't refresh.

I use win 98 and I noticed that the icons on my taskbar and under my start button are now distorted images. They are mostly black blobs with lines of color. I suspect that I deleted a file on accident but I don't know which one.

Also, my Internet Explorer won't refresh its display correctly when I'm online. It will show text but not images so I have to slowly drag a window across explorer's display before the image will apear.

I appreciate any advice.

You have to rename or delete that icon cache file in DOS mode - boot from floppy or safe mode command prompt only from the boot menu.

TweakUI also has an option to fix icons. It effectively does the same thing that Metier and Motorheader are talking about, but it's much easier. Search for powertools/powertoys on the MS site or just "TweakUI download" elsewhere.

If clearing cache doesn't fix your browser problems, try updating your video card's drivers.
