Icon Light RG101A Rogue 1

$15 after coupon code EMCKBHG79 (exp.8/24) with free shipping

WTF Newegg now requires you to add to cart to show "too low to show" pricing?!?!

This flashlight uses 1xAA battery and is a tail-clicky with two modes, high and low, for 50 and 6 lumens respectively with runtimes of 3/70 hours.

Of course these are manufacturer specs so grain of salt plz.

I own the Rogue 1 from a previous Newegg deal. I have to say that it is probably the brightest (by a hair) single AA flashlight I have, and I have a LOT of those things. I usually don't need more than one mode, but I guess if you know you will need super long runtime, you can go with the low mode. I have a flashlight that has FIVE modes, and I never use anything but "high." I think the only flashlight that I own which is brighter than this is an Ultrafire 2xAA single mode which uses a Cree Q5 emitter. I also have an LED Lenser brand single AA single mode with unknown (to me) emitter which is almost as bright. All my other single AA are less bright. The build quality seems decent, which is nice since most of mine are, ahem, cheap crap (except for the branded ones). One thing to note is that the Icon flashlights are kind of bulky for being a single AA. They're easier to hold and use as a "normal" flashlight, but not as nice to carry all the time in your pocket.

I hereby pledge never to buy anything that does not show a price in the shopping cart at least. This far, no farther. For now anyway. Will the on/off switch last as long as the LED? I've had the switch break on every led flashlight.

Got one at the last Zap flashlight deal post when it was $20; excellent light. Would like the lanyard to clamp on to something else on the light than one of the bars that run the length of the light, though.

the CREE or Ultrafire LEDs on ebay that take the rechargeable 18650 battery are pretty dang good for under $20 including battery/charger.

Well blame the manufacturer then...They have what's called MAP pricing, Minimum Advertised Price. And you can't show something on your site with a price lower than MAP pricing. But you can get around that by adding it to your cart, then they can show you the lower than MAP price...

So, you are refusing to buy something for cheaper than the manufacturer says it can be sold for? WTF are you doing in the hot deals section???

That's a legal thing I think. Some prices aren't allowed to be advertised or shown, but I'm not sure why it changes when it's in your cart. Something about not letting the masses see it, only the person inquiring.

Right, but they used to let you click to open a small pop-up that shows price, without actually adding to your cart.

It was only 50 lumens... There are plenty more around.

> 80 lumens, 2 x AAA @ $20 shipped <

I've learned to not trust manufacturer ratings.

That being said, usually flashlights that use more batteries are brighter, as are flashlights that use odd sized batteries like the Cree mentioned.

Single AA is my favorite form factor for an LED flashlight because batteries are cheap and widely available, plus the size is compact.
