Can anyone please translate these messages from my firewall for me?

  • The firewall has blocked Internet access to your computer (ICMP Unreachable) from xxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxxx.com (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx).
    Occurred: 72 times between 03/12/01 4:34:06 AM and 03/12/01 4:38:02 AM

The firewall has blocked Internet access to your computer (ICMP Unreachable) from xxxxxxxxxx.com (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx).
    Occurred: 8 times between 03/12/01 4:37:30 AM and 03/12/01 4:37:52 AM
They are both ICMP (type:3/subtype:3).

Thanks. But 72 times over 4 minutes? Isn't that unusual? I've never had this happen before and I think it's kind of strange.

I wouldn't worry about it. There are two kinds of ICMP Unreachable - network or port. network unreachable means a router is unable to route the frame. port unreachable means a router or host is unable to deliver the frame to that port. Access lists on routers will generate an ICMP unreachable.

Do you have any applications that talk to the IP address that is sending you the unreachable?

Thanks for the info and no, there are no talking applications other than my browser, and the IP addy is for a support forum I visit.
