"icmp.dll file cannot start...."

Here's the story.
I've got an old Win98SE Box on a network.
It refuses to recognize the internet and when I try to ping any address from within a DOS box, the box immediately closes down and an error message pops up saying "The ICMP.DLL file cannot start. Check the file to determine the problem"
I replaced the file thinking it was bad, but I'm still getting the same error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Better post somewhere where there's less ignorance of the operating system they're using to play their games on!

did you try reinstalling tcp/ip?

Ummm Yepper!
I just found out from the Microsoft knowledge base that it's a corrupt Wsock32.dll.
