Theres got to be a way to burn the download. People still need offline installs.

I'm betting USB stick - because what if you buy a new boot drive for your Mac Pro and need to reinstall? The Air has a USB installer iirc.

Oh, interesting... iMessage. BBM clone.

I wonder what this is going to do to text messages for the telecoms. I'd love to give a big FU to the stupid 15c/message BS they have going.

Probably the same thing BBM did. It'll help some iOS users but with Android's market share you'll still need a plan.

Also, I appreciate and am excited about all the new stuff for iOS, but it's all stuff I've had with previous phones/whatever and I just can't help but think "about time!!!"

Developer seed today, but otherwise, "iOS 5 will ship to all of our customers this fall."

In time for iPhone 4s/5? 🙂

Yeah. I know I won't be using WhatsApp with my wife anymore. We send a lot of texts to each other and don't really want to pay the extra for an unlimited text plan.

Actually, this is all moot. This won't be out until fall when I'll have to have a blackberry for work. Oh well.

If you both have iphone, or at least smartphones, why don't you just email each other?

"iCloud stores your content in the cloud and wirelessly pushes it to all your device. It automatically uploads it, stores it, and pushes it to all your devices." And by "automatically," he means it: in addition to "every day content," such as purchased music, books, photos and videos, device settings, and app data that will be automatically backed up over WiFi, Documents in the Cloud will effortlessly sync Pages, Numbers, and Keynote data between all of your iOS devices. There will be no advertising (contrary to previous rumors), and calendar, mail, and contact sync is free.

goodbye dropbox? or is that only Pages/Numbers/Keynote data?

With the iTunes sync... is that only for music purchased/downloaded through iTunes, or does it include my own CD rips?

2:50PM "We're making it free, and we're very excited about it. So that's iCloud. It stores your content and pushes it to all of your devices, and it's integrated with all your apps."

massive, massive #win

2:55PM iTunes Match costs $24.99 per year.

2:55PM If any songs don't match they'll be uploaded for you. Anything that's matched is upgraded to 256Kbps AAC, without DRM.

Very interesting. I've got apple lossless on my desktop which I will be keeping, but to have it mirrored as 256 kbps aac in the cloud... interesting.

Hmm, a little bittersweet for me. No OSX Lion until July, no iOS 5 until fall, iCloud up now on beta iOS... Nothing has really changed.

mmmm..

anyway, I got a gMusic invite in my inbox. DOA.

hey guys, I went through the keynote kinda quick - got some questions about the cloud

my biggest problem is that I have a pretty large iphoto library. I have 2 computers - an imac and MBP. I have to sync my cameras, iphones, etc to each computer to upload to iphoto.

with the cloud will I be able to upload the photos and they get "synced" to both computers?

EDIT
looks like i found the answer
