I was fairly amazed i was able to reactivate my old expired MobileMe email address/apple ID, though I dunno if I actually want to start using it since all my iTunes purchases over the past 2 years have been with my gmail address.

I haven't messed with iCloud much as a whole - Impressions?

did you use Lion or iOS 5 to reactivate your expired MobileMe account?

I have neither OS, and the Windows iCloud Control Panel won't do it.

there's no way to delete photos from the icloud? whaaaat?

1000 of your latest photos. With you all the time.

iCloud manages your Photo Stream efficiently so you don’t run out of storage space on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you have Photo Stream enabled on your iOS device, every single photo you take appears in a special Photo Stream album that holds your last 1000 photos. You can’t edit or delete photos from your Photo Stream. If you want to touch up a photo or keep a favorite shot permanently, simply save it to your Camera Roll. iCloud stores new photos for 30 days, so you have plenty of time to connect your iOS device to Wi-Fi and make sure you always have your most recent shots handy.

What if you're taking naughty pictures of your g/f and forgot to turn Photo Stream off, it'll be there for all of your family to see even before you go home, lol

I never turned on photo stream, that is just asking for trouble.

One thing I dont like about iMessage is that it goes to all of your devices. I think it should just go to your device that you initiated the chat from. Or if someone else initiates, it should go to all, and then only to the one you are replying from.

this is basically what android has been doing forever. so other than having to pay for >5gb it seems like apple is just catching up?

I am loving Calendar syncing in iCloud. I finally get to dump Google Calendar Sync for Outlook, and use iCloud for syncing.

It works so damned seamlessly. I put something on my iPhone and it shows up instantly in Outlook 2010 and Google Calendar, or vice versa. I haven't dabbled with anything yet, but I did an iPad backup, and it was fast. I don't have much on my iPad right now though, I'll be filling it up this evening to test it out.

What use to you have for iCloud then?
I'm not yet sold on cloud syncing, partly due to my antiquated operating systems. 😉

My intent is to prevent my expired me.com email from being recycled. But as I understand it all MobileMe email addresses are also Apple IDs, so they should never be recycled unless Apple changes its policy.

Note that I would then still be able to use iCloud Web mail, and Snow Leopard's Mail.app can even be configured to access the same email account (according to Macworld.com).
