Yup, 14 hits in 11 games is doable for Ichiro... wow what an amazing talent he is.Originally posted by: chuckywang
Ichiro needs like 14 more hits to break Sisler's record. It'll be amazing. How often do you see such an old baseball record get broken?

How many more plate appearances does he have than Bonds? Not to mention total bases does not include walks.Hell, the man has 13 more total bases than Barry Bonds this year, even AFTER Bonds set the intentional walks record. Not to mention Ichiro is batting 3 points higher (.372) than Bonds with 304 more AB's (your average is supposed to go down, not up with more AB's!). That's just absolutely insane.

All this talk about Ichiro being asterisked b/c it's 162 games is ridiculous, Sisler never had to face bullpens and closers... also I looked up the 162 record, and Ichiro set it in 2001 with 242, breaking Wade Boggs (1985) and Erstad (2000) records at 240 hits. Ichiro, if he breaks his own modern record and all time record, will probably have to be recognized as one of the greatest hitters of all time!

Doesn't matter, Bonds has an .820SLG to Ichiro's .459, and Bonds has twice as many extra basehits... show me any guy with over 300+ more AB's than Bonds who is batting .370+ with more total bases than Bonds. Ichiro is in a league all by himself.Originally posted by: lordtyranus

"Total bases can be calculated from commonly used baseball statistics by using the formula TB = 1B + (2*2B) + (3*3B) + (4*HR)"
Bonds has never batted higher than .303 in 500+ AB's, I highly doubt he could ever match a .372 avg in over 600. Unfortunately, we will never get to see this because of morons who are scared to pitch to him.Originally posted by: RabidMongoose

Wow, Ichiro has .003 points higher in batting average than Bonds? Wow, Bonds sucks. Oh wait, he's putting up the single best OPS season of all time while playing half of his games in a pitcher's park. I think Ichiro would trade for that 😉

BTW, Barry said to get off his jock, he can't pee with you there. 😉
