Ichiro 5/5

I love this guy, so incredibly good. Definetly has a shot for .400 this year and breaking the hit record. The Chicago fans gave him a standing ovation

The man is a freak! Too bad he's on a bad team.. I could imagine the RBI's this man could have. So how many hits in total??? How many left to break the season record?

He's definitely getting the hit record. But batting .400 might be a reach, but i wouldn't count it out if he continues hitting like he has.

they just showed he has to hit something like .297 to get to the hit record. should be no problem. good action in the top of the 9th, unfortunately, bret boone got thrown out 🙁

Tons of RBI's coming from the leadoff hitter... 😕

I hope Ichiro do break the hitting record, this guy is amazing... Great hitting and he has good D too...

if he can keep this up for the next 10 years, he'll get 3000 hits. He'll be a lock for the hall of fame if/when he breaks the season hits record.

I was beginning to have doubts, with his o-fer the other night, and the sudden rash of intentional walks. WTF is with that?! I could understand if the rest of the order was knockin him in every time, but my M's suck this year. He's not Bonds, not a home run threat every at-bat. At least give him the friggin AB's!!!!

Ichiro needs like 14 more hits to break Sisler's record. It'll be amazing. How often do you see such an old baseball record get broken?

Yup, 14 hits in 11 games is doable for Ichiro... wow what an amazing talent he is.

All this talk about Ichiro being asterisked b/c it's 162 games is ridiculous, Sisler never had to face bullpens and closers... also I looked up the 162 record, and Ichiro set it in 2001 with 242, breaking Wade Boggs (1985) and Erstad (2000) records at 240 hits. Ichiro, if he breaks his own modern record and all time record, will probably have to be recognized as one of the greatest hitters of all time!

Hell, the man has 13 more total bases than Barry Bonds this year, even AFTER Bonds set the intentional walks record. Not to mention Ichiro is batting 3 points higher (.372) than Bonds with 304 more AB's (your average is supposed to go down, not up with more AB's!). That's just absolutely insane.

How many more plate appearances does he have than Bonds? Not to mention total bases does not include walks.

He won't hit .400. But he might well get the record. And he has almost 2x as many AB as Bonds does, I believe. There is an article about it, comparing them, on ESPN.com

I hope he can do it. I'm going on Oct. 3 (the last M's home game) and while it's very selfish, I'm secretly hoping that he breaks it at that game. 😉

I suppose if he's one hit away, I might try to pick up some scalped tickets at Safeco Field for that game (although they might be hard to come by, heh).

Wow, Ichiro has .003 points higher in batting average than Bonds? Wow, Bonds sucks. Oh wait, he's putting up the single best OPS season of all time while playing half of his games in a pitcher's park. I think Ichiro would trade for that 😉

Doesn't matter, Bonds has an .820SLG to Ichiro's .459, and Bonds has twice as many extra basehits... show me any guy with over 300+ more AB's than Bonds who is batting .370+ with more total bases than Bonds. Ichiro is in a league all by himself.

Bonds has never batted higher than .303 in 500+ AB's, I highly doubt he could ever match a .372 avg in over 600. Unfortunately, we will never get to see this because of morons who are scared to pitch to him.

BTW, Barry said to get off his jock, he can't pee with you there. 😉

Not to mention that Ichiro also plays in a pitcher's park. Given the amount of infield singles that he beats out, it doesn't matter all that much, heh.

It's just strange that you're trying to put Bonds down in an unrelated post. I should point out that Bonds' SLG in a pitcher's park is only about .050 points away from Ichiro's entire OPS! Amazing. 😀

BTW, Bonds says that he's sorry that he killed your dog. 😉
