ICH9R SSD Serial Number Issue

arcenite

Good morning, All:

I've got this annoying issue with 4 of my SSDs and my ICH9R chipset. I've been working with a 3xR0 array of ADATA S599s...All was well, until I introduced a 4th. I could not figure out for the life of me why, my BIOS sees all 4 drives but Intels' RAID BIOS only saw 3...Until, I happened to notice that my newest drive happens to have the same serial number as one of the drives already in the array 😡

Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks.

Hah, I was afraid of that. So there's no way to change the serial number I suppose. Why does this always happen to me? It's always something small that prevents me from enjoying being a nerd.

Check with Adata. Technically, you "can" change that number if you have the proper tool. But, it may be a tool that they will not release to the public.

most enterprise drives have a unique WWN - i think the G2 isn't really more than consumer junk. but you can call 1-800-yo-data google the # the dude might help you out.

you know intel ichr9 stamps the drive with its own # for drives without WWN so if you clone a raid you can REALLY confuse intel ich raid
