ICH8 and optical booting with JMicron chips?

I'd like to know if you need to use drivers for the JMicron chips which they add to mobos to support IDE on 965 chipset boards? Just say I'm booting a WinXP CD to install, will the CD be recognized in an IDE drive by WinXP, or would I need to hit F6?
