This is starting to happen a little too often for comfort. I have a MoBo that has been in use for a long time and it happens to be an ASUS P4C800E Deluxe. I do not suspect that this can only happen to this board so just wonder what you all think can be the problem. I am running xp pro sp3, with iaa 3.5.0.2846.

I have two 250GB Maxtor SATA drives connected to the ICH5R Raid controller and they are in a RAID 0 configuration. No problems for years.

All of a sudden, I will get a message upon boot that it is not bootable. The fix is to reboot and hit CTRL-I. When the screen comes up it says that the array is not bootable but the two drives are OK. I tell it that the drives in the array are present and hit item 4 to exit. Then all is OK, for a few weeks.

Now, I have had another failure...this time I went away for lunch with the system doing just fine waiting for me to come back. I came back to the boot failure screen. Why? This was not booting?

Any ideas...can I have a drive failure? The Maxtor diags say it is OK.

TIA
