ICH10 vs ICH10R

Some P45 boards have the ICH10 south bridge, others have the ICH10R. Can you please tell me what are the benefits of ICH10R over ICH10 ?

In addition to lacking RAID support, Intel does not support AHCI on the 'base' ICH chips.

The base ICH chip supports AHCI but it is up to the motherboard manufacturer to implement the BIOS support for it. And the operating system would need to bring native AHCI support as well, because Intel's Matrix Storage drivers do not support AHCI on the base ICH chips.

For these reasons, very very few motherboards with the base ICH chip support AHCI.
