though i have plenty of disk space, it is a sheer beauty. i wan this IceCube 1394 FireWire Enclosure
sadly, seems i have to a dealer to buy it in bulk. please anyone could let me where to buy this in the US? much appreciated.

That's the generic 3.5" Firewire enclosure which is sold under many different names. I have one. Others sell it for less. See here.

i just read at the link you gave. it says: OWC NOTE - This case kit will not work with drive mechanisms larger than 120GB. We hope to have a solution in the near future.
i wanna use the enclosure for my Maxtor 160Gb 5400RPM. arrrgg, guess i have to give up this 1. or all in its kind?

Dunno if they're exactly the same. The enclosure is identical amongst the different brands, but they may use different Firewire-->IDE bridgeboards inside. The OWC one uses the fastest chipset, which is the Oxford 911 chipset. I don't know if the 120 GB limitation is due to the chipset itself, or if other Oxford 911-based bridgeboards overcome this problem. I doubt it though.

the 120GB limit probably isn't really that of the firewire device but of the ata controller used within the external case... i can't remember the exact about (be it 128GB or 137GB) but the ata100 spec doesn't support anything higher... you need one that supports ata133 to have the 160GB drive in it...
that would be my guess for the limit anyways...
