Hi, my LCD doesn't power ups, i took the Power Supply (PSU) at TV repair store and they
find out "ICE2A501"component was damaged, they don't have it or just told me like thise
to go away, to much trouble(internet sites selling components and parts no smaller than
$150 minimum order and thise thing cost just $5). TV shop says DELL doesn't sells parts
and components, of course-they are smart.
ANY ideas where can i find it? I have an DELL CTR monitor, will it have "ICE2A501"
component?

Modern power adaptors are difficult to repair, and often use specialist parts - like specially designed power adaptor chips (like the ICE2AS01) and custom made inductors.

Power adaptors are cheap, it'll likely cost you less to get a new one, than to have a repair shop look at it and replace the chip (which may not be the problem).

Given that almost every manufacturer has their own range of proprietary power adaptor chips, and that these adaptors aren't easily repairable, these chips are not generally available to end users.

Try calling up Dell Spare Parts. They might have it.

You can probably find the number somewhere within the Dell Forum: Text

As far as I can tell, there is no ICE2A501. It's almost certainly ICE2AS01.

The thing is, how sure are you that this chip is the problem? These chips are bristling with automatic protection systems, and just shut-down if they detect a problem in the rest of the circuit.

I suppose it's worth a shot to replace the chip, if you can do it cheaply - but it wouldn't surprise me if there was another problem somewhere in the circuit as well.

Why can you not replace the power adaptor - surely dell must sell replacements?

If it's the Siemens or infineon ICE2AS01 chip, it seems to be pretty well available from electronics parts places.

Well done finding that - that's the first place I've found that has it in stock - I must have tried half a dozen suppliers.

I repair/sell a ton of these, and the chip has failed in probably 98% of them. The most common failure in these units are that the output diode solder connections fail (check the connections on the bottom very closely for everything hooked to the heat sinks, resolder as needed after cleaning well) , then the chip runs away and self destructs due to inadequate design/protection. Not a bad idea to replace the FET and the caps too when repairing them.
