I just put together an IC7 system last week and the core temp is reported very high, ~58°C under full load (mobo temp is only 28°C) and ~45°C idle. I've built a helluv a lot of Intel systems and typically under full load they only go up about 10°C, so that's about correct. This system has a Thermalright SLK800U with a fast TMD fan and artic silver so I didn't expect to see such a high temp. It's a 2.6C, 232 fsb, and 1.60v.

I'm assuming the IC7 and/or the newest Abit EQ is reporting high.

Yes, Abit boards read onboard temps higher than other brand motherboards. Actually temps may be anywhere from 5-10 degrees celcius cooler depending on your case airflow. Those temps are about right for your setup, so I wouldn't worry. When I had my IC7, my full load temps were over 65 degrees with 1.7vcore. :)

Ok, that makes sense...it's prob actually around 48°C fully loaded. This system is in my basement where it's quite cool, around 23°C air in there. This is definately the hottest system I've ever had.

Thanks

Those are just about the same temps I have on my P4 rig with similar cooling. You're ok.

My setup is very similar to yours (and I'm trusting the 5-10 degrees rule!):

Abit IC7
P4 2.8c @ 3.3 (235 FSB) Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu @ 2800 RPM
Case: 28-31°C
Idle: 44°C
Load: 58-59°C (Prime95 gets me to 62°C if it's a hot day)

These are all Motherboard Monitor 5 readings, but they match Abit EQ. I hope that it's only hitting around 50 degrees under load... according to several sites it's possible.
