ic7, ic7-max3, ic7-g can anyone clear this up ??

just wondering what the main differences are

is the max3 really worth the extra money ??

all I really need is two sata channels ide and the basics

ok i think i got it basically figured out:

ic7: 2x sata
ic7-g: comes with gigabit ethernet 4x sata
ic7-max3: gigabit ethernet, 4x sata + 4x sata raid, secure ide, better cooling

if this is the case then i don't really need the extra raid junk and the ic7-g looks like a good deal with it's gigabit ethernet

anyone else have any comments ????

get the least amount of junk you can 😉
i use the plain IC7, cause i dint need any extras.

your P4m 1.8 will run nicely in those boards.

🙂

As you said, IC7-G has the gigabit LAN, it also comes with one SATA-IDE adaptor which is a nice piece of "junk." I bought an extra adaptor @ $20 or so.....(Not sure if SATA adaptors aid performance, but it sure is nice to be rid of wide, flat IDE cables).

thanks everyone
i'll decided later tonight maybe
i might just get the regular ic7

the max3 has a nice cooling system on it but i guess i could always make something just as good

any of you recommend a northbridge heatsink for this board ??
also can anyone tell me the quality of the integrated sound in comparison to the nforce2 ???

ok i just bought the ic7 max3 cause I want to have a look at the cooling system on it
i'll prob never used the sata raid but I will definately use the gigabit ethernet and maybe the sound

anyone know how good the intel 6 channel sound is ??
as good as the nforce2 ?

I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Sorry, can't comment on the sound, haven't tried it out.

You also forgot the main reason for the IC7 Max3, > 2.8vdimm (3.2vdimm max) for memory overclocking.
