Here's a crazy thought: Apple should release iBooks for Mac computers.
Why? Because they will have 2 Mac computers with Retina displays. Plus it's only natural to assume some people like reading books on screens bigger than 10".
But here's the real reason: PDF performance under Preview just sucks!
No, seriously. It sucks. My iPhone 5 zooms and pans around in any PDF file, even very heavily vectorized technical documents, faster than any Mac computer I have put my paws on.
It gets even more ridiculous: PDF performance is much better in Mobile Safari in the iOS Simulator than in Preview. Similarly, Mobile Safari in iOS Simulator is a hell of a lot smoother and more responsive than Safari for Mac.
So at least give us iBooks, Apple... or update Safari and Preview on Mac OSX. It's silly when your phone runs faster than your computers!
That's the end of my rant.
