Ibook Question

I am trying to configure an executives iBook for our cisco wireless at work. We are using WPA enterprise and I just can't get a signal at all out of the airport (wireless device). Is there some secret i need to get this working?

What kind of wireless signal is your router sending out? Macs don't like to talk directly to non-Airport stuff (trying finding WPA Personal or Enterprise on a Linksys router). I have a G4 Cube with an original Airport card. I was running WPA-PSK AES on my wireless network before, but even with the updates from 10.4.4, it still won't work. I was able to get WPA-PSK TKIP to work, however. I would recommend using that. It's fairly secure and a lot more devices can talk to the wireless network this way.

just WPA TKIP but this is implemented throughout the enterprise so I can't really just change it

If it's WPA-PSK TKIP, you're all set!

I am sure they wouldnt just let anyone connect to the wireless network at your work ask the computer admin at your work.

On any Mac OS since 10.3 you should be able to just enter the WPA passphrase and it will know that you're joining a WPA network... most of the time on Macs you don't need to tell it to use WEP or WPA, it can auto-sense that info from the signal.

Just go up to the wireless indicator on the menu bar, click on your company's wireless network (if the SSID isn't being broadcast you might have to click "Other..." and enter the SSID), then enter the WPA-PSA-TKIP passphrase into the password field and click OK.
