iBook G4 Problem

I have an iBook G4 that won't start up OS X. It makes the start up noise but the apple won't appear and it just flashes different colors. It goes from light gray, red, green, blue, light gray and then dark gray, then black. Not sure if these colors mean anything. I think its a display problem but not sure. I called up apple and they are updating software and can't setup dispatches. So any ideas or suggestions will be of great help.
