Hi.
Im definately gonna get a 12" Apple iBook 800mhz.
With the following.
12" Apple iBook 800mhz.
Airport Extreme Card.
Neoprene Case.
Norton Internet Securiy Suite for Mac.
Thats £1028 If i get from apple.

But that also means that i`ll have to wait 3-4 weeks for delivery, and will cost me to send back if i have problems.

A shop i know of, Apple Certified, called Micro Activa, sells exactely the same stuff, but the case +£10 more. But, has the convience of dropping it in if i have problems, and i dont have to wait for delivery.

I will also be buying a 512mb iBook certified Sodim from Crucial, and a ADSL wireless router from OCUK.

Is it worth the extra £10 for the convience, in your opinion.
Does the airport extreme addon have to be installed by a technician, or is it as simple as adding a PCMCIA card? Same with memory?

Opinions?

If it's only going to cost £10 more, then get it at the local store. That is a no brainer to me. That is money well spent for peace of mind, and getting it today rather than in 4 to 8 weeks (it happens).
As far as the AE installation, that is very simple. All you have to do is pop out the battery, open a little door and slide the card in. Then connect the antenna. Start it up run Airport assistant and you are good to go. I had mine in in 2 minutes. No screwdriver needed. The memory is a little more complicated... Get out a screwdriver, remove four very small screws, insert the module, replace the screws and turn it on.
Enjoy the new mac and welcome to the dark side. I'm typing from a 12" powerbook right now and love it.

Antenna? I thought it was just a small module?

Wont be buying till my next pay check though, in 3 weeks. That way i can buy everything i need at once.

There is a small internal antenna that you have connect to the card. the installation is different from powerbooks, though, because you have to lift up the keyboard. It doesn't look hard, just google it and you should find an easy guide.
