IBM x20 -- Screen wont stay off

I was just given an older IBM x20 with 600 MHz PIII and 320MB RAM and a fresh install of XP Pro.

I have the screen set to turn off after 2 minutes on AC and DC power. The problem is, the screen turns on all by itself after a random amount of time.

I have stopped all background tasks and the system is virus and adware free.

Anyone have any idea?

Try plugging in a mouse and disabling the pointing stick. I had an old compaq laptop that had a "wandering pointer." The pointer would (excruciatingly slowly) move to the upper right over time. You wouldn't notice it unless you left it alone and paid attention over several minutes, but it would always pull the system out of standby.

I turned down the sensitivity of the TP one notch and that did the trick. Thanks, werk!
