IBM Warranty Questions

I have an IBM Thinkpad. I am planning to send this in for fixing (under warranty). The screen is starting to, for lack of a better way to describe it, splotch - that is, a small little area is starting to show a little brighter than the rest, but the surface of that area is absolutely clean, leaving me to conclude that the LCD is starting to go?

Now, my Operating System isn't exactly bought and paid for. Is IBM going to kill me/void my warranty? I don't see how they would even care, as the problem is not remotely software related - there just wouldn't be any need to check windows, short of an active search for pirated products.

What do you all think? And please, please, please...spare me the lecture on piracy. :)

"spare me the lecture on piracy" so you know its wrong????

anyway with most computer companies they only warrant what was shipped with the machine. generally they in essance could format the HDD and install all the factory sw and they would be allowed to do this as most warranties do not protect data (stolen or not).

good luck, oh and stop stealing!!

I know its wrong and I do feel bad about it - but I have promised that when I start to earn money, I will pay purchase all the software I have used. I haven't used much. I do own 98, and 95.
