IBM Thinkpad X21 keyboard problems

I have a problem with my Thinkpad X21. A column of my keys (2, w, s, x) don't work, or work after holding down the key for an indefinite amount of time. I think they keyboard needs to be replaced, but my internal speaker is also out (I can use external speakers) so I'm afraid it might be the mobo. Anyone ever have this problem? I'm about to bid on a keyboard on eBay and don't want to buy it if the keyboard isn't the problem....

Looks like your mobo is out. My DELL laptop started doing the samething, unrespomsive cluster of keys. A DELL tech just replaces my mobo and the laptop keyboard is fine again.
