IBM Thinkpad Hard Drive Help

I have an T40. The hard drive was making noises so I purchased a new one. Since I did not have a system disk I planned to use a disk cloning program. The problem is how can I clone what is on my old drive to the new drive. This isn't like a desktop computer were I can duplicate hard drives. Any suggestions?
 
Get an external enclosure. They aren't very expensive, maybe $10-$20. Make sure it's a 2.5" enclosure.
