I just want to be able to put a DLink card, I already have in it, and let someone use it to get on the internet. I may want to be able to remotely operate the other pc also. The SDlink laptop card says it needs 300MHz processor. and 32mb ram and a 32 bit card slot.

Below are the specs

Windows 98 se
CPU: Intel Pentium (>1
FPU: Internal
CPU Speed: 90 MHz
Rom Date: 02/23/96
Model: AT Clone
Dos Version: 7.0
DOS memory: 640 kb
Free: 381 kb
Extended memory: 2269 mb
Free:47mb
Expanded memory: None

May not work. It is a bit slow there.

It may not work in that slot - and then you have the horrible wireless support for Win98...wireless does not work all that well on Win98.

That's a Pentium 1. You're looking at a 16-bit slot.
And even then, your processor would likely choke on simply driving the card.
Get a new laptop.

Could I get a pocket pc and operate the other pc with that? Would I have to switch to 802.11b router, since most of them come with that technology. What would the price range be for that? What software would let me operate the host desktop?

802.11G is backwards compatible with the 802.11B used in many PDAs.
There are numerous forms of software that will remotely operate your PC from your PDA, but I can't say how well any of them work. I would just get a decent PDA, and confiugre it for web browsing.
