IBM Thinkpad 570E White Screen of Death?

My girlfriend's laptop which is 450 miles away from me is experiencing the infamous IBM white screen of death. Is there an easy fix for this, or a relatively painless method?

- Boots up straight to white screen
- No bios screen or any windows screens
- Ribbon cable problem?
- BIOS problem?

Any help is appreciated.
