My employer purchased an IBM think center 2.8 ghz p4 machine.
http://d02xms014.southbury.ibm...;session_id=1128203063
the first one got there DOA.
an IBM tech came in and removed and destroyed the CPU MB "WTF"
He didn't even try to turn it on first.
said "oh they just throw them out anyway."
too bad it was a bad psu huh?
so they rma the whole machine and now 4 months later guess what?
bad power supply.
So we call IBM and once again the tech just pulls the MB/CPU "against my urging I might add"
and destroys it:brokenheart:.
he puts the new MB/CPU in and of course since its the psu it no fixy.
SO they are again rmaing this thing and will no doubt just destroy it instead of replacing the psu.

this is the stupidest thing I have ever seen and can't believe this is a smart way to do business.
Rant complete

Thats weird... I work in an I.T department as a systems engineer, and we order atleast 15 Ibm Thinkcentre's model 8189 a week. We've ordered over 150 of this model already and we havent had those kind of problems.. The only ones that gave us problems were one of the earlier models 6794 which were p4 1.6's...

They extremely blow.....

Shucks, I could have used those MB+CPUS for image rendering or as a dedicated CS server.........

Update
Another tech shows up today with a psu and installs it I asked him nicely for the old dead one "for parts" and believe it or not he said sure here ya go I just throw stuff away anyhow.
I told him about yesterdays deal and he said yeah we get back to the shop and just toss the dead stuff in the dumpster!!!!!
wheres that dumpster I wonder?;)
so he plugs in the box and same thing hmmmm. well apparently the blinking power led was a code saying bad ram so he looks and sure enough the dimm was not seated all the way. he boots it up NP and heads out leaving me with one IBM 200 watt psu that works:cookie:
I am really confused now and would love to go dumpster diving at IBM
