I jumped on the T41 deal last year around Christmas for about the same price, except it was a 1.4, 20gb hdd. Great laptop, nothing less from IBM.

Warm, at least.

So...tempting...but I gotta have more than 1024x768. Otherwise I'd be all over this at this price! Must...resist...

I've always heard that IBM makes good notebooks, and thought yeah yeah whatever fan-boy. But seriously they make very well engineered notebooks. So well engineered that thier DTR 3.2 ghz P4 notebooks can actualy be used on your lap without burning your pants. IBM makes great notebooks, and in terms of engineering the mop the floor with the Dell's, Compaq's, Toshibas, and HP's of the world. IBM's are worth every penny, and it's a shame that tehis fact isn't as well known as it should be. Of course making your laptops as ugly as sin doesn't help at all.

this is an awesome deal.
Ony wish it had the 9600 vid card.
Fact this is identical to what ibought a few weeks ago, sans sxga+ and 9600. I paid over 1800 for that, with less memory than this one.

ibm lap quality isnt what it used to be, but its stil way better than anything out there, imho.
My t42 replaced a dell 600m, and its built so much better than the dell, its not even funny.

If yer in looking for a laptop and not looking to play many games, this is the way to go.

Agreed. All other specs are nice but I must have SXGA.

The native resolution on my T41p is 1400x1050. I would imagine the t42 would be similar??

My T40 goes to 1400x1050, so the T42 should be at least as good. I love it... But I work for IBM too so I'm biased (though I would not get an IBM desktop)...

Couldn't you call the IBM rep and ask them for sxga for a small price increase? I remember people doing that with the T41 deal around this time of last year.

I read in a magazine that the T42's are now supposed to come with the finger-print identity bio-scan? =T /me thinks this is crap deal without the bioscan :disgust:

I have one of these and it is a great laptop. It is by far the best laptop I have ever had/used and you can't go wrong with the price either.
