Hi, I am installing Redhat linux 9 to my IBM Think pad T42 laptop.
There is problem with the video display. This notebook has a 14" XGA display,
and the major problem is that I don't know the horizontal refresh rate and the vertical refresh rate and I don't know the LCD monitor model for this notebook--\even those IBM technical support guys don't know!

I just simply choose Samsun 15GLsi as the monitor. But the display messed up after restart. I
have to use "ctrl + alt + backspace" to shut down X windows. Interestingly, instead of totally shutting X windows, the display "struggled" for about 1 minute, and display with X-windows works fine now. the problem, each time i restart it, I have to repeat the above steps to save the messed-up graphical display to normal state. Also I don't know whether this is going to be harmful to the LCD by simply guessing a LCD model

Does anyone happen to know the horizontal and vertical frequencies of this IBM T42 14" LCD? or can give some hints about the LCD model number? Thanks a lot!
