IBM T40 .. leaving it plugged in?

Okay, I've heard conflicting words about this issue. I was wondering whether it was okay or not to leave my IBM T40 plugged into an AC adapter for long periods of time. I've been told the T40 is actually okay for this and I've also been told otherwise.
Not sure what to believe.

The system knows not to charge the battery if the battery is at full capacity. I leave my T40 plugged in at night and I've never had any problems.

It's a lithium ion battery..... It's just fine to leave it plugged in...

Just remember that even lithium ions will lose capacity as they get "older". They just aren't as bad about it as the older Metal type batteries.

Well I've read that it's better to take out the battery, if you don't use it .... it should be kept at a 40% charge level in a not too hot room.

I remember than the battery of my bro's older presario 1200XL-119 (K6-2 500 MHz) went bad because he letf it plugged and never used the machine on battery..... but that was a NiMH battery. So LiOn should behave better 🙂 But I never leave it plugged.... maybe it is time to change.
