Hey guys,

My mom's IBM T20, one month after the extended parts and warranty ended, decided to completely die. You press the power, and the drive will "rev" up for about half a second, then the machine will just power off. You can't get to any sort of system response, the screen won't turn on... anything.

Is there some simple solution to this, or should I shell out $100 to have professionals fix it? ... or can they even fix it?

Thanks,

Could be a number if things, start with the simplest. A dead DIOS battery may cause that, try to have it replaced. The system is "trying" to POST, so not all is lost.

I have a t21, basically the same thing. You need to pull the battery out of the bottom, under it should be the bios battery. Replacing it might do the trick.

My friend and I both have the A22m and he had that problem. It would rev for a second and shut down. We tried to recreate the same problem on my machine and the battery was not at fault with mine. It was the CPU not properly locked. We went to the IBM web site to find out info on how to disassemble the machine.
