incrementally built raid 0 with three maxtors.
1 X diamond max40+
1 X diamond max45+
1 X diamond max60+
all 20 gig
all bought at different times, different places, have different geometry (platters etc.) but all are equivalent, quiet and fast and I have really punished these with low level formats, block size changes, diagnostics, hacked controller cards, bleeding edge overclocks, single screw dangling mounts with no drive cage in sight, loaned to friends, multiple partitioning installs etc. etc.
Never tried IBM.
also have some real year old maxtors still running, 540MB. They have treated me good.
