MS has a ridiculously high profit margin, so they actually do make a bit more money than IBM despite having just over half the revenue of IBM.

Gross vs. Net
Basically, Revenue means how much money the company gets.
Profit is how much money the company is left over with after they get done paying bills and employees, etc etc.
For instance: If I managed to sell 1,000,000 boxes of stuff at $100/box, I'd have made $100,000,000 dollars in revenue. If it cost me $99.99/box, I'd have only made $10,000 in profit.
Figured I'd explain it further![]()
Interesting. I never found a list that lists them in order of profits but i found a market capitalization list which has cola ahead of pepsi. I think i can sleep ok tonight now seeing that![]()
Market cap don't have a lot of meaning by itself, it is just the total worth of its stock. Stock is based on PERCEIVED values. Lots of Dot Com companies in the early 2000s had huge market caps, but they all went bust.
When judging the size of a company, you have to consider it's revenue, headcount, and then its market cap.

IBM makes their money on the backend. Lots of server hardware. Only thing I can think of.
Pepsi...no clue. Although I'd rather drink pepsi than coke anyday. I just don't drink cola though. Dr Pepper man here
