I liked working there for a summer but I saw the writing on the walls and it was spelled out very clearly by the CEO; if you aren't cheap foreign labor you are holding the company back.

The statement he makes is sad but true:
Last year I wrote a series of columns on management problems at IBM Global Services, explaining how the executive ranks from CEO Sam Palmisano on down were losing touch with reality, bidding contracts too low to make a profit then mismanaging them in an attempt to make a profit anyway, often to the detriment of IBM customers.

I was working for a company about 5 years ago where this exact thing happened to them. Low-balling the competition, then purposely charging extra fees for things that weren't in the contract but were part of normal day to day operations, in the end costing the company more than the competition would have with their honest estimate of what hardware and software was needed in order to maintain their business.

150K from a 350K headcount company is huge. Are things going so badly for big blue or are they just outsourcing everything?

This is something that I have never understood - why would a company that is doing bad still buyout other companies? It just doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

Sad to see a great American company stab it's own host country in the back. I hope they go belly up. Their services will probably suffer as well, because as a programmer, everything I've seen come out of India sucks, and has to be rewritten.

Is it mostly programmers and IT people that work in this division? Need to know if my market is about to be flooded with people.

At the moment all I'm hearing about is upper management, according to my boss I still have my job. Thank God...
