IBM Laptop X30, bios password reset?

Draco

I have this IBM X30 laptop that has a bios password in place, so I can't do anything with it. Does anyone know of a way to reset this back to factory defaults so I can use the machine again?

Thanks

hmmm, it seems the X30 has some sort of security chip? Is this correct? 🙁 I guess it would have to be physically replaced?

Unfortunately - in the long long past, I didn't bookmark this site.....

A way to jump a couple of pins on the chip on a laptop to get rid of the password.......
It was a bit extreme - had to strip the lappy all the way down to barebones - something I would not do on my new fuji-siemens, and something I attempted to do on some old ebay laptops without any success (well, managed to strip them down ok - it was the getting it back together that required the sledgehammer)
