IBM implementing TCPA

I remember a thread a while ago about the TCPA, supposedly MS's way of stealing our privacy and many other bad things. Without starting that discussion again, I just wanted to say I noticed that IBM now has laptops that have a TCPA complian system in them. They call it IBM Embedded Security Subsystem. Now I know a lot of you were all worked up about the TCPA, but this actually looks kind of cool. It's two parts (as far as I can tell). One is a Security chip that is a cryptographic microprocessor that supports key encryption and digital signatures. They claim that having this done by a piece of hardware is more secure that doing it with software. The other part is some software that you can download from IBM that allows the chip to function and do everything it does.

Anyways, just wanted to see if anyone actually has any IBM computers that have the TCPA system. I'd be interested to find out how it works and whether or not it's cool or evil. Go here for the info from IBM.

Oh, and I just thought I'd point out that there is no mention of Microsoft having anything to do with this setup IBM has, despite all the fears people seem to have about it.

Bump. I can't believe no one is interested in this given how much fuss a lot of people made over that article about the TCPA.
