Beware... A friend of mine and I both had IBM Cordless phones - we thought they would be OK and liked the fact that they had NiMH batteries. They were actually manufactured by TT Systems, who just purchased the right to put the IBM name on the phone (it actually said this on the box). The phones were awful - you could barely hear the caller at max volume and reception was poor. Just my $0.02.

Long Time Lurker - dislike of this phone brought me to post.... Thanks for many other great deals JokerSmoker!

A couple of years ago I got in on a deal here for a Vtech cordless phone for $9.99 with a $10 rebate and free shipping. Not only was the deal outstanding but the phone was/is too. Still works great. :)

I don't know about you guys, but I think Uniden probably makes some of the best cordless phones. My sister has a Uniden and she's very hard on her phone. She's had it for few years now and the only thing that died was the battery. She used to go through AT&T/Lucent phones like mad. She kept sending them back for warranty repair and they kept replacing it with different models. None of them ever worked nearly as good as the Uniden...

Another vote to avoid this. I have an IBM Headset phone I bought from Sam's club. It was $100-I bought it cause it had seperate outputs that could be hooked into a sound card for net calls. This phone is a POS-it is so bad I don't use it. They would have to pay me to get me to take another IBM phone-it's that bad. Worst cordless phone I've ever used-even the original "tote-and-talk" cordless phone I had that was like 20 years old was better.

Aww man. All this negativity. I think it's high time someone post a hot deal for a non-sucky cordless phone :p (Maybe keep me from blowing $100 at costco...)

Concurring with the other posts by the other members...the best 2.4ghz phone to get is a SIEMENS...I have had the whole in home system for my house each room now has a phone...including my bathroom...lol...And I only use one jack. Look for deals on the SIEMENS sets.

do the IBM phones catch fire, too?

Stay with 900 mhz if you have a wireless network....

the unidens really are good and highly rated by cons reports

Uniden EXI 376 HS $30 - i think at costco unidens come with a free headset

panasonics have died, vtechs have a short range, my sony had an intermittent problem

and some of my old unidens are still fine ......

Is there that much interference with WiFi (802.11b/2.4GHz) and a 2.4GHz cordless phone? Are you really better off with 900MHz, or does frequency switching solve that?

I've had my Panasonic 900 MHz phone for a couple of years now. TC1450B (It's the kind with the speakerphone base and the headset jack) It still works wonderfully, despite the fact that I've dropped it on the floor countless times. The reception on it isn't bad either. The best thing is that I still get about 6-8 hours of talk time on it on one battery charge. Just adding my 2 cents to this thread..:p
