IBM Aptiva BIOS woes

I'm trying to help my Dad update his Aptiva from 2000 (model 2138, a Pentium II, 300MHz). It has an early USB implementation and he's been told that he needs USB-2 for a digital photo reader he wants to use. It appears that he needs a BIOS upgrade, but I can't tell for sure.

Does anyone know whether he needs an upgrade?

jgutsell, i'm running on the same computer. About two years ago I tried looking for a BIOS update for the computer but couldn't find one either from IBMs support website or through the internet. If all he needs is USB 2.0, I believe that you can buy an add-in card for the computer, but I don't know how well it run since I don't know the minimum PC requirements for USB 2.0. As for the on Board USB, on my computer I believe it is an early implementation, when I get home I can look to see which USB version it has. Hope this helps in some way.

A BIOS upgrade will not get you USB 2.0. You need to add a USB 2 card.
