IBM Accoustic Mangement Software Doesn't Recognize my Drive on the Promise Channel

Is there any way round this apart from moving to the 686b channel?

What will my GXP60 be set to at default,Normal, Quiet?

Is it worth having it noiser for extra performance, is it noticible?

Thanks

I think the default setting is for normal operation. Even under normal operation my 60GXP is extremely quiet.

Well, I think the only solution would be to move the drive over to the Motherboard's IDE controllers, change the settings, and move it back. That shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

the drive is considered a scsi one in windows when attached to the promise controller hence not recognised by the program. you'll have to move the hdd back on to the m/board ide to use the tool!

I wanted the drive set to the best performance option (Normal??) but if it is already I won't have to, anyone confirm it is normal as shipped?

Many thanks

You'd have to surgically implant the drive inside yer skull to hear it atall!
