Hi all,

I want to RMA my 75GXP 45GB as a preventative measure. The problem is that when I emailed IBM tech support and said that I know there is a known issue with this model and data loss, they replied that it only affects certain computer setups (i.e. OS, motherboard, IDE/DMA controller, etc configurations).

Does anyone know what setup they are refering to, I really do not want to take the chanch of losing my precious data.

Any help would be appreciated.

THanks

Bam!

There you go.

I just did this 2 weeks ago.

I probably have to do it again since my other 75GXP is starting to make funny sounds too.

Thanks for the link.....but I already got that far.

My drive is not doing any bad "yet". I just wanted to get it replaced because of what people on this board and other boards describe as a IBM known issue with the 45GB model.

Any other ideas?

I ran the DFT test on my HDD and it gave me an error code and an RMA #. I had the same HDD as you the 45G version but I sent it back a couple weeks ago. Sorry. I don't recall what error code it gave me. If I did, I would have given it to you.
