i have a 45 gig ibm 75gxp. i know there have been a lot of problems with these drives, but i think this one is unrelated. the reason i think this is because this has also happened to me with a wd drive. anyways, i had about 40 gigs of data on this drive and i wanted to make some room for a partition. so i moved 6 gigs of data to another drive and deleted it from the ibm dirve. however, when i click on the drive properties it only showed that there was 6 gigs free. the total capacity of the drive is 42.9 gig after format. so, originally i had ~3 gigs free and deleted 6 (should have 9 gigs free), but now under drive properties it only shows 6 gigs free. to even make this more complicated, when i open the drive and Select All and check the properties it shows that there is only 34 gigs of data. so somehow i have "lost" 3 gigs of data. i've run windows ckdsk, ibm disk fitness tes, and no problems were found. so, i'm at a loss of what to do - if anything. any suggestions? thanks for the help. cheers.

When you selected all and got properties, did you have explorer set to show hidden files?

Check how large your swap file is, and how big your temp folder is, etc... there could be some junk files in these folders.
