I have had this problem ever since I have got my IBM 75GXP 45 Gig drive.....the drive occasionally fails to start up at the bios itself ...the hard disk LED just keeps on glowing and it wouldn't detect in the bios setup.....this happens like once in every fortnight and ceases to work. To make it work I have to wait a day or two for it to bootup.......this is a strange and serious problem I reckon.....I have downloaded you DFT program and I do not know how to read the results of the program nor do I know where the log file is located. The Hard Drive freezes sometimes while I use applications(the red HDD LED just keeps on glowing) and freezes the most when I access my CDROM drive....It takes a minute for the hard disk activity to cease and only then I can use the CDROM)....I didn't have a problem with my Quantum HDD earlier ..everything just worked fine......now the question - is the drive defective? ........Anyone with any solutions?........thanks

What Motherboard do you have it on? I have mine on the A7V and when the Promise 100 did not detect it I found out that having a 40X CD-ROM on as a slave was causing problems. I will tell you that it is VERY fast now on the Promise 100, 72.8 MB/s burst speed!
