To my impression, you should RMA the 45G HD because I've heard plenty of stories on the 45GB 75GXP line of IBM Hard Drives. Try to get the 60GXP's if you can or a different size. To my knowledge the problem is only present in the 45GB's.

no the problem is with all of the 75gxps, it is a flaw in design. But my roommate had a 45g 75gxp and it went out twice, they finally sent him a 60gig 60gxp because they can't go down in size. But you have to run the fittness test on it to see if they will send you another one, the test can be found on their website, and it getting hot is normal, exaclty how hot is the thing though.

Yes the temp is normal. I have one in one of my systems and I got one of those HDD coolers to keep it cooled down. It's been working fine for a long time now, close to a year with no problems(even if it WAS made in Hungary).

I'm lucky also. I have 1 30GB that's been running since March (9 months) without problems. I did get a WD600AB for my personal data, in case it did explode or something.

About temperature: it's max should be 55°C, which is fairly hot. If you can touch it and it's uncomfortably warm, then it's probably too hot. I think if you have adequate case flow, you should be more than okay.

Now, I'm gonna go fry some eggs... j/k :D

Compared to your WD, is it super hot or something? I don't know that a FSB overclock would effect it that much, but maybe.

If you have to pull away at all then it's definitely too hot. The thing is it will probably still pass the Fitness Test so go accidentally drop it on the ground if you are thinking of RMA'ing it because they won't take it back if it is still passing the Fitness Test.

I never take chances w/ hard drives. I dont like the overheating symptom.
I'd replace it. Better to spend $50 now, than to lose important stuff
I had a string of drives that all seemed to die after a few months,
and they all overheated like that.
