IBM 6150

A bunch of friends and I got a free IBM 6150 "Personal Computer"... its got some 8-bit ISA, some 16-bit, 2 memory cards (2mb ECC each), and a processor card. I pulled the CGA video card and dropped in my VGA ISA card, but it never displayed anything on the monitor.

Any idea how to get it to boot? The diagnostic display goes through various numbers before settling finally on 00.

My guess is it will be a 286 or 386. if your lucky it will be a 486. with only 4 megs or ram you will be lucky to run anything other than dos on it.

no... 6150's aren't x86. They're RISC, according to a website.

well, the IBM PS/2 '95 boots... the third machine had only a 486sx33 overdrive forced in, so its long dead

Maybe not. I have 286 (I think 8MHz with 1MB RAM and 20MB huge Seagate drive); I managed to install successfully MsDOS AND MS WfW 3.11; not exactly sizzling speed, but workable. Only problem is the loud HDD, which prevents me to use this machine instead of my new rig I used 1MB ISA Video (replaced original Hercules) and 10MB ISA NIC.

286s are x86. this computer is a COMPLETELY different beast.

The 6150 is a PC/RT. It was developed in Austin around 1985 if memory serves. I cant remember the name of the processor but it is NOT an x86.
